Why do they have to change a good thing?

I LOVED my Hoka Clifton 8s. While the 9s are comfy, they don't seem to fit as well as the 8s. I just don't get why companies have to "update" shoes each year when they have a great product. Net-net, the Clifton 9s are ok but I don't think I'd buy them again.
